Blue Tea: Jiao Gu Lan
Say hello to Blue Tea, our sweet, vibrant herbal ally with centuries of tradition behind it. We love it because it is delicious and we reach for it for cholesterol and blood sugar issues.
Known in Chinese as Jiao Gu Lan, beautifully translated as βthe twisting blue plant,β this resilient climbing vine has long been treasured in mountain villages and traditional medicine alike. ππΏ
In Chinese Medicine Jiao Gu Lan is described as sweet and slightly bitter, with a neutral to slightly cool nature, entering the Heart and Lung channels. First written about by Zhu Xiao (1406) in Jiuhuang Bencao β listed as a nourishing wild plant.
Itβs the kind of tonic herb that gently helps your whole system find its harmony. It doesnβt have any caffeine and it TASTES GOOD as a daily drinker. β¨
We use it to:
Lift qi
Nourish yin
Calm stress
Clear internal heat
Support healthy circulation and metabolism
Modern research is now catching up to this ancient wisdom. Early studies suggest that Jiao Gu Lan may:
β¨π Help lower cholesterol and improve lipid profiles
β¨π Support healthy blood-sugar regulation and insulin sensitivity
So while its traditional roots run deep, its modern benefits are beginning to shine just as brightly. ππ
